I am glad we tried this iconic place in Atlanta but I won't be returning soon and I wouldn't recommend it. At this type of establishment and price point anyone should be able to serve you and make your experience a good one. We lost our waiter for a while I tried to reach out for drinks to someone else and they could not help us. The waiter was knowledgeable about menu but that is it. We often had empty drinks and it did not feel personalized or special. We had reservations to celebrate a milestone birthday. Sides were all good but nothing that left me craving more. The whole lobster was the best plate ordered of the night. steaks were up to par with the other big name steakhouses. The lightly fried lobster tail was another favorite. We enjoyed stone crab legs which were one of the better choices of the night. Overall the meal was good but I have to admit I was slightly disappointed (maybe because of the hype of this place). Overall, my parents had a good time and the food is good. It was my birthday so the restaurant has a special birthday complimentary dessert, which is nice. I never try but I would not order chicken from a lobster and steak house. The restaurant's name say it all so as long as your order is steak or lobster or seafood, it would be good. I guess what lack is the friendliness, or maybe it's just my luck in all the times I dined here. The servers are professional and knowledgable about the menu, but you don't feel as welcome. The service is kind of hit and miss, not in a really negative way. All tables are very close to each other, and the noise level is loud in here, not the music but the sound of so many people talking loudly in a tight space. There's no covid policy here, no one wears mask and no social distance. They have Christmas decor in December which looks very nice and festive. Their quality in the food and drinks have been very consistent. Do make reservation weeks ahead if you plan to go on Friday or the weekends. I made reservation 3 weeks ahead but it was a Friday night in December so the only availability is at 5:30pm, right when the restaurant opened. They validate valet parking and the valet is right in front of the restaurant. This one of the Buckhead Dining Group restaurant. Price range: Expensive +.You wrote a review for Chops & Lobster Barđ6 hours ago (L., D., Bar) Click here for a look at their rather extensive menu. Chops is in a big office building just off Peachtree Rd. Note that sitting at the bar, sipping a beverage and ordering appetizers (and then more appetizers) is also not a bad thing.īefore you accuse me of “gushing” over this place, there's another high-end steakhouse in Atlanta that was a major disappointment, and I have written about it separately. Dinner Menu Starters On Ice Caviar Lobster Bar - Lobster Specialties Lobster Bar Lobsters Wood Grilled - Whole Fish USDA Prime Steaks 1700 Dry Aged 35. Fried Tail (if you made the mistake of sharing the appetizer version), a Whole Lobster, and a Platter that includes a Tail, a small Salmon Filet, Lump Crab and Scallops all drizzled with a Lemon Beurre Blanc. That peppery Brandy reduction qualifies this dish as the au poivre to end all au poivres. We have also enjoyed the Filet Mignon Pepper Steak (topped with Shallots braised in Port, Potato Confit, mushrooms and a Brandied Pepper Sauce). For such a large steak, it has been delivered perfectly cooked (pink/hot center, charred exterior) every time. Porterhouse is my favorite and has one of the most tender filets I've ever had the pleasure of digging into. Get the Crisped Hash Browns as your potato side. The Mac and Creamy White Cheddar side is quite large (you'll need to share this one) and richly delicious. The Spinach Salad is prepared tableside, with the warm bacon dressing, sliced hard-boiled egg and all the other required goodies. Every time I've had it, the tomatoes have been perfectly ripe and flavorful (i.e., not refrigerated). Like another great steakhouse (listed and reviewed in the regular review section for Ocean City, MD), they load it up with blue cheese crumbles. My favorite salad is the Tomato, Onion and Blue Cheese. They say you have to share it, but if you are properly motivated you can deal with it all alone. Start with the Sharing Morsels of the Cold-Water Lobster Tail, cut into bite size pieces and quickly fried. Chops is part of the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group (same as Buckhead Diner) and shares the same reputation for consistently high quality. I love the huge open kitchen and the various dining levels overlooking all that fire, steam and stainless steel. After much grueling research, I have determined that that is quite possibly true (continued studies will, of course, be necessary). Spend the paycheck or the 3 course menu, you cant go wrong. In spite of its name, Chops Lobster Bar is considered one of the premier Steakhouses in the country. Chops Lobster Bar is a great steakhouse serving delicious lobsters in a cool art deco setting.
